A Quick Update
Thank you to those of you who keep us on your regular prayer list. It means the world to us to know that you are praying for us. We know that as followers of Jesus, we operate in a strength and vitality that comes from God's Spirit, and prayer is one of the ways God has chosen to release that power in our lives. I want to give a quick update (as quick as I can) and ask for prayer for a few items. We will do a more full update about our summer in a few weeks, but for now I have some more "urgent" topics to ask you to pray for.
I want to ask you to pray for a children's camp that we will be working at next week (July 22-26) . My home church, and one of the churches that has been a huge support to us over these years, Adamsville First Baptist Church, is hosting their own kids camp this next week. Liz has been hired to lead the music for the camp, and I will be a camp counselor with a group of rowdy, smelly boys to take care of.
Please pray for this camp, and pray that the lives of the 40+ kids who are going to this camp will be impacted in a way that will make a mark that they will remember for the rest of their lives. I would ask you to pray specifically that many kids would make the decision for the first time in their lives to follow Jesus.
One of the things I have always loved about my home church is that, since I have been there as an eleven-year-old boy, they have always had a God-given desire to reach and impact kids and teenagers. Following that desire, they have had much success over the years reaching kids who have come from unchurched and dechurched families in the community. Many of the kids impacted by this church over the years have come from families of poverty, addiction, divorce, neglect and abuse. Join us in praising God for what has happened in the past, but asking for even more lives impacted and souls won to Christ going into the future!
